Jack was 20 weeks old yesterday...

Yes, I still count in weeks. I count in months too, but I like the weekly count and weekly pictures. I totally can't believe he's 20 weeks old. It seems like just yesterday I went into labour, excited, with very little pain (only at first!). It seems like just yesterday I was brought to my room and looked over at him and thought - who's going to tell me when to feed him and change his diaper? Is someone going to come check on him? (My postpartum nurse wasn't so great, BTW). It seems like just yesterday I thought to myself, there is NO WAY IN HE-double hockey sticks that I will do this again. It was THAT painful. They broke my water, I shouldn't have let them. I was doing awesome med free until just after that. Totally awesome. Then I wanted to die. The cord was around his neck, I had to have an episiotomy. They talked about forceps, at which point DH started screaming in my ear to push, as I had coached him to before I went into labour should that occur. And now, I want to to it again, and would soon, if we felt it was a good time. Am I crazy? Yup, just a little. But I love love love my little guy and I just can't help it. I hated being pregnant, I had morning sickness the whole time, but I would do it again without a second thought if it meant having Jack.
Yes, I started this yesterday and didn't finish it!
We have such a strong little boy. He loves to stand. He has been trying to army crawl for a week or two now. When he plays on his playmat, he is all over the place. He doesn't like to be held much and if he is, he wants to stand. We're working on getting him to sit unassisted, but this little boy just doesn't want to sit! He loves drinking from our water glasses. He stares at them and if we bring the glass close to him he'll grab it with two hands and bring it to his mouth. It's like he doesn't realize he's a baby. He thinks he's a big boy.
I better end this post because I'm just going to get upset.... I miss my tiny 6lb guy that would cuddle and sleep on my chest. Now he stretches the whole length of my upper body...

The New Place..

Well we are finally moved in. Well, pretty much moved in. We still have a bunch of stuff at our old place that we have to pick up and figure out where to put. Jack's room is pretty well organized, at least in a useable state. Our room is getting better. I finally got all our clothes out and put away today. The living room and kitchen are better. We're waiting on some more shelving for the kitchen cupboards, and then I can finish up in there. Andrew is still trying to figure out where to hang his speakers on the wall to get the best sound for his chair and the other seats in the room.
Jack didn't handle the move so well. On Friday, my parents came to visit and helped me pack up the house. I envisioned Jack spending a lot of time with my Dad, and my mom and I packing (my dad can't lift too much because of an injury). Well, Jack didn't like that idea. He's just started playing strange and getting upset if I leave the room. He wasn't too bad Friday, but he wasn't great. Saturday he was bad. I didn't get any unpacking done. He refused to nap, almost all day. I did get 30 minutes out of him while the guys were getting a second load at the old house (we were at the new house). I just put him on a blanket on the floor in his room. I had to put him on his back, I didn't want him on his tummy on the floor, so thats likely why he didn't sleep long. Andrew and I had to return the moving truck at 8pm, his bedtime. Luckily, he fell asleep in the car, but we did wake him when we came home and had to put him back to sleep. He was up every hour and a half from there. He didn't have his stickers on his wall - Wee Gallery Animals - so I think the room didn't feel like his own, despite his crib being up, his change table, etc. I tried bringing him in our room in the bassinet but it wasn't any better. Poor guy, we uprooted his world, I think, at a bad time. He did much better the second night and hasn't been too bad since.
We really like the new place, a lot. The dogs have been hanging out in the basement and really like it down there. Its partly finished. Theres a rec room, a bathroom and then the laundry and storage area. There's so much more room compared to our old place. Our bedroom is smaller, much smaller, but we're making it work. It's really nice having such a big kitchen and living room! Before, we had to pull our dining table out to use it, now, we can leave it out and we don't have stuff all around us, even with all the baby gear.

New to this Blog thing...

So I finally decided to start a blog. I've been keeping a journal for Jack since he was born. Sometimes I write in it everyday, sometimes only once or twice a week. I try to keep up to date with all the new things he's doing. I'm hoping this is a good way to encourage me to keep writing for him. I've also been sending his daddy (A) emails often signed from Jack, with pictures from that day. I know he keeps them and plans on printing them out one day for me to put in a book for J.
Where to start? J is 19 weeks 2 days old. (Yes I still count in weeks too). That translates to 4 months, 2 weeks 1 day. I can't believe how fast it went. He's like a little boy now, not like a baby at all anymore. He rolls belly to back no problem, and did first at 7 weeks 2 days. He rolled back to belly completely for the first time earlier this week. He's been almost there for so long now. He can sit up with help, and he started to army crawl a little bit on the weekend too. This boy just loves to move. He hates sitting still, so I know we will be in serious trouble once he really gets moving!
We move on Saturday. To a bigger place. I'm sure it won't feel so big once me, A, J and the giant dogs get in there. I'm excited though. As excited as I could be to have to pack up a whole house while taking care of J and dealing with whiny dogs. Our living room has barely been usable all week. I just took our dining set down last night. Come to think of it, our living room has been barely useable since J came! It is full of his toys and I love it! The new place has a big fenced back yard which will be awesome for the dogs and for J to play in when he's a bit older.
J didn't sleep so great last night, so I'm quite tired but unable to sleep. He is napping right now. He went to bed at his usual 8pm and woke to eat at 10, 1, 4, 530, and Daddy got him when he woke at 6 and let me sleep until almost 8. A has been a major help with this change in sleep, he takes the monitor once he's ready and going downstairs for breakfast, and as soon as J wakes, he goes and gets him and he and J have some daddy time before he goes to work. It lets me get a little more sleep, and I know you mommies understand that the sleep without the monitor, even if its just an hour, is so good! He seems to have patterns of 3-4 days bad sleep, then 3-4 days good. So I know it will improve again. Just the other night he woke a few times right after he went to bed, but only woke at 4 to eat, and slept until 8am! I know its possible, he just has so much going on in his little brain right now that its affecting his sleep. And its okay, we'll get through it, as tired as we may be!
Thats all for now...
